Summary: Weird permission error on files that work.
Product: Apache httpd-2
Version: 2.0.59
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: Core
AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
ReportedBy: henti@geekware.co.za
I'm having a very confusing bug. I have an image in a gallery which does not
load. If I go to the image directly I get a "You don't have permission to
access" error. However if I hit ctrl-f5 it loads.
normally I would say this is cache on browser or something, however closing the
page and doing the same results in the same. I've even tried from another
machine on another network. same problem. Sometimes simply refreshing doesn't
work and I have to remove the image.jpg from the address bar let it load the
index.html and then add the image.jpg and it will load.
This is very strange. Other images int he same website seems to work fine. It's
just images in the gallery directory.
I have chown'ed all files apache: and chmod 777 as well.
here is log from apache server :
196.211.192.138 - - [13/Feb/2007:00:44:32 +0200] "GET
/e107_plugins/autogallery/Gallery/Abstract/Light_and_Shaddow.JPG HTTP/1.0" 403 330

first one is the first load .. second one is with ctrl-refresh.
Any ideas ?

error log shows no errors. and the only reason I did chmod 777 was to eliminate
any possible permission problems. The same result happens.
I'll take the to userland support ... but i will be back I'm sure.

Please use a user support forum.
But first, look in the error log. And never, ever set file permissions 777.
