[Bug 3277] Memory leak?

We have had several crashes over the last three weeks or so. Just caught the
first one (during the day) - a small message, just a couple of kb, from a list
that we get many messages a day from. We found that the child spamd process had
been running for around 2.5hrs before it finally shot up the RAM/swap/CPU
leagues and made the machine grind almost to a halt.
