problem with make

I am using RH9. I removed the install version and downloaded the latest tarball SpamAssassin 
3.0.1. Unfortunately I have a problem while installing. While running 'make' got the following 
error: 

Makefile:95: *** missing separator. Stop.

Checked the FAQ, searched lists, could not find answer to this problem.

Any clue?
