Re: Working on Xalan-C++

Hey Holger,

I'm going to reply to the list, because it's much better to have this a
public conversation, rather than a private one.

The usual way this works is someone starts working on things. That could
be bug fixes, performance enhancements, and even new features. For
example, a really cool thing to work on would be EXSLT extension functions
(see http://www.exslt.org). That's also a good way to get your "feet wet"
and get to know the code. There are many more projects available as well,
although they tend to be more complex, so they're probably not appropriate
for someone without much experience in the code.

There are also lots of things that could be done to enhance our build
process, such as Makefile work, and automation. Our new conformance
testing utility also needs to be ported from Win32 to the various Unix
flavors, so that might be something fun, if you have some Unix experience.

Of course, you could also explore the code and look for something you'd
like to do.

Dave

What kind of 'volunteer' you think of? Maybe I am interested :^)
