<move> task fails on overwriting
Summary: <move> task fails on overwriting
Product: Ant
Version: 1.4.1
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Windows NT/2K
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: Other
Component: Core tasks
AssignedTo: ant-dev@jakarta.apache.org
ReportedBy: criecke@cxtec.com
I have an ant script that does a simple <move...> task with a file= and a
todir= attribute. Occasionally this pops up with a "Unable to remove file
____" error. The funny thing is that I have several <move...>'s in a row, and
it seems to stop on a different one. But when you re-run the script, it stops
on the same file each time. When you delete the file from a command prompt
(which sometimes succeeds, sometimes not) and re-run the script, it may stop on
a different file or go all the way through.
I suspected file locking issues, but ran the same ant build on a box with
nothing running, and got the same problem. To workaround it, I have changed
the <move> to <copy>+<delete>, which works fine.
