Volunteers requested for help with 1.5 CHANGES file.

If you've been wanting to help in a small way with Subversion, this is
your chance.

1.5 is a very big release, with a *lot* of changes: 273 issues
resolved since 1.4.0 (!), and appx 5700 trunk revisions. Of course,
not all of the resolved issues represent bugfixes new in 1.5.0; some
of them shipped in 1.4.1, 1.4.2, etc. But many are new.

I'm writing the CHANGES file entry that will summarize the 1.5
release. It would take me a very long time to comb through all the
issues and revisions, and I'd still probably miss a few things.

Instead, I'd like to parallelize the process. I have a plan for doing
so, more or less as you'd expect: divide up the issues so each person
only has a few to examine, give everyone instructions on what
characteristics we're looking for, and at the end collate the results.
I'll do the collating, since that kind of needs to be done by one
person, for consistency.

If this works well for the issues, we'll try the same basic method for
the revisions too, although with slightly different instructions
there, of course.

If you're interested in helping, please reply to me personally (*not*
to the list, to save on noise). Assuming we get enough people, I'll
send out further instructions to the group a few days from now. When
all done, I'll post a single mail naming and thanking everyone :-).
(We will, however, work as a group, and I may set up a special mailing
list for that purpose.)

That's it! My mailbox awaits you, and thanks in advance to anyone who
volunteers.

Just an update:

We got a bunch of volunteers pretty quickly. I've set up some basic
parallelization infrastructure, and sent out an introductory mail to
the group. Anyone else who wants to follow what's going on, see:

   http://subversion.tigris.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=manyhands&msgNo=1

When we're done (hopefully within a week), we'll incorporate the
results back into the master CHANGES file. After that, I'll finish up
the Release Notes too -- just myself, not a parallel job -- since that
should be pretty easy after editing the CHANGES file.

That's the news,
