'dns: bad dns reply'

I noticed the following errors showing up in my logs ...

Jan 18 08:36:12 listmail spamd[2800]: dns: bad dns reply: addr is not a string 
at /usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl/IO/Socket/IP.pm line 662, <GEN37> line 48.

I'm running ...

SpamAssassin version 3.4.2
   running on Perl version 5.16.3

Any suggestions?  Is something possibly out of date?
