Trunk configuration files missing?
I'm trying to run James from the trunk but some configuration files seem to
be missing. For example, after retrieving the entire trunk from subversion,
I'm trying to follow this step from the documentation:
"Copy the spring-beans.xml, log4j.properties and
META-INF/persistence.xmlfrom container-spring\src\main\config\james
directory to a source folder of container-spring project (you can use for
example a new folder called stage as Eclipse source folder)."
Unfortunately, the "container-spring\src\main\config" folder doesn't exist.
I searched the entire project and couldn't find spring-beans.xml anywhere.
Should this directory exist in subversion or is it created dynamically at
runtime? The instructions don't say anything about how to generate these
missing config files.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Dustin

Thanks Eric! That was it. After adding the -javaagent VM option to my run
configuration, James starts up fine. I really appreciate everyone's help
with this.

Hi,
On the to-be-deployed website:
If you change a JPA Entity class, your will need to run 'mvn package' or
add the following option to your run configuration
'-javaagent:your_home_folder\.m2\repository\org\apache\openjpa\openjpa\2.0.1\openjpa-2.0.1.jar'
Thx.

Hi drcallaway ,
Sorry, I don't have the eclipse environment, but seems it's the openJPA
entity enhancement, maybe you need install the OpenJPA eclipse tool or
enable dynamic enhancement, please refer to the OpenJPA document for
details. But I strong suggest you try the james app project which
Norman have mentioned.

Thanks Young. This was very helpful. I've now synced the
james-server-3.0-beta1 tag and I'm trying to get James running from within
my IDE. I copied the configuration files from the main/config/james
directory to a "conf" directory right off the of working directory (root
subversion folder for James). I also included these same files in the
classpath. I haven't changed the config files at all. However, when I try to
start up James in the IDE by running the Main app, I get this:

It looks like some kind of JPA issue creating the entity manager. Do you
have any idea what might be causing this? Do I need to modify some config
files before I attempt to start it?
Thanks!

Hi there,
the application assembly was factored out to:
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/james/app/trunk/
Just check it out and run "mvn clean package".
Bye,
Norman

Hi drcallaway ,
Now the spring configuration file should be james-server-context.xml,
but it really no such files in trunk, you can found it from tag
james-server-3.0-beta1, the path is
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/james/server/tags/james-server-3.0-beta1/container-spring/src/main/config/james/context/james-server-context.xml
.
I an run it by mvn package, and then navigate to module
container-spring, now you can use the
target/james-server-container-spring-3.0-beta1-bin.tar.gz to run james,
but please note that seems currently the trunk still don't work, you can
try it from beta1.
Please be free to contact with me for any question or suggestion.
Thanks & Best Regards .
