SOAP/EJB docs ...

Hi Vahe,
Thanks for your e-mail. Is there any documentation on the SOAP/EJB
features
supported(or going to be supported) by Apache's SOAP? Any idea how they
are going
to behave in a clustered environment ? May be I should look into the
samples
first before asking further questions :-( But if you can point me to
any relevant
info it will be great.

thanks,
pamuk

Hi Pramuk,

Yes, we introduced SOAP support into our EJB code generator 6 months
ago. For client side we generate session EJBs which are effectively SOAP
wrappers, for server side we generate Deployment Descriptors. Also, in
order to make it work with EJB, we introduced new features into the
Apache (former IBM) SOAP product (objects-by-value, new
serializers/deserializers, transformer chains etc.).

Recently Doug Davis introduced generic provider framework and stateless
EJB provider implementation into Apache SOAP. Most probably we'll work
together to further improve support for EJB in Apache SOAP. I hope we'll
come out with more clear ideas after the upcoming face-2-face meeting in
Washington next month.

Thanks for your interest, Vahe

Hello Bernhard,

AFAIK at present the URN format for EJB-related objects is
urn:service[@instance-id], please refer to Doug's email titled
"Pluggable Providers" dated October 27th. Also, checking out the newest
code from the CVS might be a good idea. In general, I believe, the final
version of the URN format is yet to come.

Best regards, Vahe

Re: SOAP/EJB docs ...

Hi Pramuk,

As I remember, there was a document written by either Doug or Paul Fink
attached to one of emails to the newsletter in September or October. You
can use the emails archive (http://archive.covalent.net/) to try to find
it. At the same time please keep in mind that the document is just a
proposal for EJB/SOAP integration. Still, I think the best thing for you
to do is to look at the code as well as some discussions on the mailing
list.

Regards, Vahe
