Sorry but this is really not intuitive. At the moment you cannot even see that you highlighted anything.
Who shall understand this click sequence of first clicking the item and then clicking the trash item if you cannot see whats highlighted?
Especially since you already can see also that some kind of Drag and Drop does work. You just can't "drop" it nowhere.
What is the use of folders if you cannot drag and drop anything into a folder ?
Or what is the use of the public drive? You cannot move folders from private to public. So only the creator can watch it, nobody else.

Also I did what you described: Select a folder, select trash icon, I will be prompted to confirm, I confirm => Tree does refresh but folder is not deleted. Deleting a folder does not work

If you delete the file it works, however, the file is still selected in the main window. So the item is gone in the tree but the main window still shows the already deleted video.

I do not think that will work.
