heads up: merging release1.0.0 to master

There are a lot of (non-code) changes on the release1.0.0 branch.
I’m merging them to master now as there’s no good reason to wait.

Those changes are good / desired regardless of IPMC release approval,
though I anticipate that we will achieve that milestone tomorrow (Th).
