Posted by Uwe Schindler <uw...@thetaphi.de>.
Hi,

I also did some local tests with Solr (on Windows, with whitespaces in path name): Starts and works fine with Java 8, Java 9, Java 10 and also Java 11.

+1 to release (the Smoke tester was ran with Java 8 and Java 9 using Policeman Jenkins, see mail before)!

Hi,

Policeman Jenkins checked the release on my request, results are here: https://jenkins.thetaphi.de/job/Lucene-Solr-Release-Tester/10/console

In short:

SUCCESS! [2:26:45.209399]

This run took 2 times as long as for most others here, because it tested with Java 8 along with “--test-java9” parameter! So this verified that the release works both with Java 8, but also Java 9+ (MR-JAR, Unsafe,…):

+ python3 -u dev-tools/scripts/smokeTestRelease.py --test-java9 /home/jenkins/tools/java/64bit/latest-jdk9 --tmp-dir /var/lib/jenkins/workspace/Lucene-Solr-Release-Tester/smoketmp <https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/lucene/lucene-solr-7.6.0-RC2-rev719cde97f84640faa1e3525690d262946571245f/> https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/lucene/lucene-solr-7.6.0-RC2-rev719cde97f84640faa1e3525690d262946571245f/

Java 9 JAVA_HOME=/home/jenkins/tools/java/64bit/latest-jdk9

Here is Policeman’s +1

Uwe Schindler will do some quick checks on the binary ZIP with Windows on his local computer (to see if Solr starts and all scripts can handle whitespace in pathnames) and give his +1 a bit later!

Re: [VOTE] Release Lucene/Solr 7.6.0 RC2

Posted by Adrien Grand <jp...@gmail.com>.
The two first tests failed but the third one succeeded: SUCCESS!
[2:08:33.062772]

Failures that I hit the first time were:
[junit4] Tests with failures [seed: 34E045D96BC975FE]:
   [junit4] - org.apache.solr.cloud.MoveReplicaHDFSTest.test
   [junit4] - org.apache.solr.cloud.MoveReplicaHDFSTest.testNormalMove

and the second time:
[junit4] Tests with failures [seed: 7FECFFED6C4B164D]:
   [junit4] -
org.apache.solr.cloud.cdcr.CdcrOpsAndBoundariesTest.testReplicationStartStop

This last failure doesn't seem to have occurred a lot recently. I
still have the log in case someone wants to dig. I'll assume all these
failures are transient.

Changes and docs look good to me.

Yup, my lack of a (non binding) vote reflects my expectation that this is a
flakey test, though I felt I should mention the result in case it concurs
with other runs.

Re: [VOTE] Release Lucene/Solr 7.6.0 RC2

Posted by Erick Erickson <er...@gmail.com>.
I often find it useful to go here and check to see if this is a flaky test:

http://fucit.org/solr-jenkins-reports/failure-report.html

This link is particularly useful, it records (IIUC) tests that have
changed in their failure frequency recently:

http://fucit.org/solr-jenkins-reports/suspicious-failure-report.html

Here's the top-level link.

http://fucit.org/solr-jenkins-reports/

Hoss generates this on a continuous basis and I've gathered them on a
weekly basis since March. This particular test has been failing off
and on since early October, although fairly rarely.

 :( I got
