portlet visual elements
I wanted to tweak all possible UI element of a portlet. After experimenting with TitlePortletControl and BorderPortletControl, I concluded that I would end up with probably an very huge list of control classes. Now I have created a CssPortletControl which generates CLASS= entries on the portlet table tags, the title tags and the actual content tags. Through the <parameter> tag in the PSML you can assign a style prefix to which you can hookup the different portlet styles.
For example (in DEFAULT.PSML):
<entry type="ref" parent="CompanyProfile">
<control name="nl.eid.jetspeed.portal.controls.CssPortletControl">
<parameter name="style" value="Blue"/>
</control>
</entry>
would generate in the <TABLE> of the portlet:
<table align="center" cellspacing="0" width="100%" class="Blue" cellpadding="0">
You then can assign whatever you please to this class through the CSS.
I was wondering why such a feature was not yet in Jetspeed. Is this because this is a totally stupid way to achieve what I want (I looked at the <skin> parameters, but they are not elaborate enough for my purpose).
I would appreciate opinions on this approach...

Ingo,
I just mailed you my prototype CssPortletControl. It has a flaw in it (I
explain this in my mail to you). Maybe we can work on a more elaborate
implementation.
Cheers,
Rogier

Hi Rogier,
I like your idea. There is nothing like this in Jetspeed yet. Do you have
this already implemented? If yes, please send patches, I'd check it into
CVS. If not, we should develop it...
