[vote] New Web Site CSS

Hi,

Previously we polled for responses on an improved CSS and the opinions
were that "31" was the best by far. We've had this turned into CSS which
is applied to 2 pages that cover all styles here:

http://people.apache.org/~brett/web-dev/
http://people.apache.org/~brett/web-dev/download.html

========================
[ ] +1 - Go ahead with it as is
[ ] +0 - Go ahead with it, but I have some feedback that I'd like
incorporated/discussed
[ ] -0 - I have feedback I think must be addressed before we do this,
but in general agree with the redesign
[ ] -1 - I'm opposed to this design/any redesign
========================

This vote will run until the end of next Monday.

(I will be running this by the Apache PRC as well)

Cheers,
Brett

Hi Brett,

I retry again this morning on my work computer (IE, xp sp2 and so on)
It works fine now. I have no clue on what happened.

Strange - I don't see it here. Anything special about the environment?
Version of Windows, exact version of IE, etc?

I'm on XP SP2 with latest patches. Not sure there is much we can do
about it.

Let see the screenshot on IE 6.0

But seems to render fine on an other computer with IE or firefox.

Same comments about the screen width, the print css and the blue of the links.
Moreover, I think that the overlap between the left border of the
navcolumn and the intro table is not really ergonomic.

Otherwise looks very nice :)

Looks extremely nice, but:
- contrast is a bit low, so reading this site for a long time will strain
your eyes: the background on the left and right makes the center seem too
bright, thus making the slightly darker texts harder to read.
- The blue of the links in the main part seems not to fit with the rest of
the colorscheme.

Yes, it is just CSS. I will incorporate it into the M1 and M2 plugins -
I'm just waiting on some final touch ups (I didn't actually do the CSS,
my design skills are not that good :)

Yes, already possible (maven.xdoc.theme=classic, for example). I think
I'd like to keep this as a Maven specific theme, but maybe have a
derivative (different colours) as an available stylesheet for users.
Maybe a hot pink theme.

Looks nice. It would be cool if there were a few 'designs' in the xdoc
plugin and one could choose using a property which design to use for a
project site.

Same comments about the fixed screen width: I have a laptop with
1280x800 widescreen resolution and there are wide grey bands on each
side of the screen. The main site looks like squeezed in the middle.
Also it would be nice to see how other generated pages look like, eg
plugin reports, etc.

Otherwise, +1 for the design!
