   Apache doesn't pay people to write software.  It is "all volunteers".
   If you can get enough people to ask Adobe to build whatever it is you want them to build, Adobe will probably build it, but IMO, you will need to show them it is worth 100's of millions of $'s to them.  Adobe donated Flex to Apache because they couldn't build a profitable business around Flex.
   
   There might be some other company that wants to step into this gap and build what you want and be happy with a few millions of $.
   
   I think you can still use Flash Builder to build your code for Royale.  You can certainly use Ant with pretty much the same build file as you used in Flex.
