Re: Character conversion error
When trying to build a file using ant with the following command:
ant -buildfile filename.xml
I am getting the following error:
c:\filename.xml:1:Character conversion error:"Unconvertible UTF-8 character beginning with 0xa9" (line number may be too low).
The file use to build perfectly using the last version of jakarta ant but when I moved to ant 1.3 I begain receiving this error.
Could you please tell me what is wrong. There are not any underscore in the first line at all or any other characters for that matter. Please let me know what is wrong if you can.
Thank you in advance!

Or tell the XML parser which encoding you are using. As my comments
and description elements contain german umlauts quite frequently, I
have all my build files start with
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?>
If you don't give an encoding here, the XML parser will assume UTF-8.
You knew that ;-). I just want to give an alternative to the entity
stuff.

Somewhere in your input file you have the copyright character '©' (ascii code
0xa9). This is not a valid character in most default xml encodings. You will
need to replace it with © or similar.

It most likely had to do with changes to xml parser that was updated to be
more compliant.
