Declaring java packages as org.osgi.framework.system.packages
Hi all,
On an effort to migrate an application I have to OSGi model (using felix) I
would like to declare a number of packages as
org.osgi.framework.system.packages.
The question is whether there is a way to declare those packages with
explicitly declaring each.
e.g,
org.apache.commons.*

;)) But perhaps if a lab can be set up (so the community can get
involved) it could ease the pain and hasten the process.

Yes, and it works very neatly too. I was thinking of the same thing for
JSR-124 which could be in the same lab if one is set up.
Regards.

to hell is paved with good intentions... ;-)

Glad to know that there IS such a plan. I would like to assist just in
case you need any help. BTW, that generic capability/requirement
model... was it implemented in require-bundle or OBR? It sounds similar
to what I've implemented at work to customize OBR in order to
"recognize" locally installed bundles.

There is a plan, just need to find the time...
The work on adding support for require-bundle was essentially a
preliminary step for fragments too, since we added a generic
capability/requirement model, which will hopefully be useful for
fragment dependencies too.
I doubt this will happen "soon" since it is probably the most
complicated feature of all those yet implemented, but it will happen.
First, we have to get another release out and finish off a few other
things yet. Stay tuned.

Is there any plan to support fragment bundles (3.14 of R4) soon in
Felix? I noticed that an issue has been opened -- FELIX-29 -- but no
work seems to have been done on it yet. Is there any reason or concern
why it is being postponed? Thanks.

No there is not, since it is not so easy to discover all packages. It
should be pretty straightforward to get the packages you want from your
JAR files with a few text manipulation tricks to get the final
result...this is essentially what we have done to create our list of
packages for the various JREs you see in the config.properties file...
