IIS-help

Hello all,

I was successful in executing steps 1-4 mentioned in "Stonehenge .NET
StockTrader Installation Guide",But in step 5 :-

Setup the website under IIS
In IIS manager
-Right-click Default Website and choose Add a Virtual Directory
-Enter trade as the alias.
-Select trader_client\trade as the physical path
-If your running vista, right-click the virtual directory and choose Convert
to Application.

I was unable to setup IIS 6 ( I encountered staxmem.dll error)

I installed IIS 7,but I was not able to run it.

Could someone tell me;-
1) How exactly is the IIS 6 or 7 is used in the .NET stocktrader ?
2) Should we execute step 6 before step 5?
3)Precise working steps as to how to setup website under IIS?

Step 6-7 Executed successfully.

Step 8a Executed successfully.

Step 8b --Could not locate remote server. Is this because IIS is not setup?

With Regards,
Vineet Ghatge H

Hi Ben et al,

I followed the steps in mail and repeated step 7 and 8a.But in step 8a :-

When I ran the web application http://localhost/trade/ I got the following
error:-

XML parsing failed: syntax error (Line: 1, Character: 1)

Reparse document as HTML
Error:invalid start-tag
Specification:http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-xml/#NT-STag
  1: <%@ Page Title="Apache Stonehenge - .NET StockTrader - Welcome"

  2: AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Default.aspx.cs"
Inherits="Trade.Web.Default" %>
  3:
  4: <asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="HeadContent"
runat="server">

I checked the file in trader_client/trade/default.aspx,the tags are right.I
think the error may be some where else or maybe there is missing within the
XHTML tags.

Could someone tell me how to fix the bug?

Hello all,
From the screenshots it look like you need to create an ASP.NET application
for your virtual directory.

1. Open IIS
2. open Trade properties
3. open Virtual Directory folder
4. click Create Application button.

Also, make sure the ASP.NET tab is configured for v2.x not v1.1

Sorry, I'm just going off memory, I haven't used XP in a few years.

I'm not sure then. Changing those port numbers should be fine.

Can you get to the server without the trade folder? (ie. http://localhost)?

Can you send me to more screenshots.

1) IIS Management with trade there
2) IIS Properties for Trade directory

Seems to me like you have some other server running on port 80. That doesn't look like an IIS error message.

Do you have any other webservers running on port 80?

Your not by any chance trying to run the .aspx files on the Glassfish server are you?

Thanks,

I'm not sure if the site has problems with Opera. Is anyone else using Opera for StockTrader? Tested?

Can you try it in Firefox or IE and send that screenshot?

You will need to add a Default document of default.aspx to your application settings:

1. open IIS Mgr
2. Right click - properties on the Trade app
3. Default Documents tab
4. Add Default.aspx
5. Click ok

Vineet,

First off I don't believe IIS7 is supported by XP, so if you use IIS use IIS6. I'm not sure what that error is, you'd have to google it.

As for the IIS requirements. You don't have to use IIS if you don't want to. The work around would be:

1. Open ST/dotnet/trader_client/StockTraderWebAppSolution.sln
2. Click Debug -> Run
3. In the instructions replace http://localhost/trade with the debug session http://localhost:52419/Trade
