GUI non-responsive

I've been successfully using JMeter for some jdbc tests. Great tool --
thanks Sebb & whoever else is behind the scenes.

I run jmeter as the jdbc client on a remote RedHat linux box or Solaris
box, with the GUI output displayed on my WindowsXP laptop via X and
Exceed. The GUI output is extremely slow, except for the summary report
column updates, but I suspect that is due to the network/X/Java issues.
I need to run jmeter on the same subnet as the db, and all our servers
are remote, hence the setup above.

However, sometimes the GUI becomes completely non-responsive to most
input (except pull-down menus for RUN, etc.). It always works, though
slowly, when I first start JMeter, but after making some changes or
running some tests it no longer responds.

My workaround is to use the pull-down menus to stop the run and clear
it, but if I want to change the test configuration, variables, etc I
usually have to shutdown and restart JMeter then make the changes first,
save, and then run. And sometimes after making one set of changes, it
also becomes unresponsive even before running any tests.

Configuration is JMeter 2.3.1, Sun x4200, Red Hat Linux x86_64
2/6/9-42-ELsmp

Is this a known problem? Any solutions or better workarounds?

Thanks again,

Steve
