Making changes against Tapestry 3.0 in CVS

I am assuming that any changes to the Tapestry 3.0 base are best made 
against the branch-3-0 tag in CVS?

Not that am I assuming any of my changes will necessarily end up in the 
cvs.apache.org, but just in case...

Also I see that JDOM 0.8 was used to build Tapestry 3.0, that JDOM has 
since reached 1.0, and the JDOM 0.8 download is no longer available.
Any known reason not to use JDOM 1.0 with Tapestry 3.0 (aside from 
perhaps a lack of testing)?
