LDAP Backend Status
Was there ever any movement the licensing issue with Novell over their LDAP
backend?

Are you referring to using LDAP as the registry data store?
juddi requires a relational database.
For a while Novell sponsored and open source UDDI implementation
called NSure UDDI which used LDAP as the registry data store. That
project has since died.
