RE: I am having the feeling that VelocyMacros are the shity bitof Velocity

LOL
I have to admit it was a bit like you say (frustration overdose, I guess).

Still, the macros are shity at the moment. I can't believe that no one
else has problems with them.

The stranger issue was changing a template with a macro while the web
server was running and then having some changes showing up, but the
changes inside the macros not being visible at all. Velocity seems to
cache the macros and not being aware when their source was changed. When
developing macros that are private to a page, this is quite inconvenient.

For a moment, I was missing FreeMarker.

Have fun,
Paulo Gaspar

Explained in prev. posting.

Yes, as mentioned in the prev. posting it looks like I use them in a
different way and maybe there is even an interpretation issue.

I will do that. But the question about what macros should be global remains.

I know, I know. I used it.
Did you notice the "For a moment" bit?

Velocity is the template engine that comes closer to what I need. I am
better helping on fixing what it still misses.

Have fun,
Paulo

So speak up earlier.

Maybe they aren't 'shitty'. I and clients use them all the time, in big
systems, that demand performance, and they work like a charm. Anakia
depends upon them. Etc, etc, etc.

Try reading the manual about the various switches. Things are pretty
flexible.

That's all well and good - do you still have the problem?

Oh! We are so sensitive today.
Did you notice the "for a moment"?

Have fun,

They are working just dandy for me.

It should be an easy fix. Try playing the the various property settings to
see if you can find one that works.

Then switch back to FreeMaker.
