[jira] Created: (TUSCANY-1263) XMLEqualityChecker too strict

XMLEqualityChecker too strict
-----------------------------

                 Key: TUSCANY-1263
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TUSCANY-1263
             Project: Tuscany
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: Java SDO Community Test Suite
            Reporter: Lionel Villard

The XMLEqualityChecker is too strict wrt to whitespace checking. For example, this 2 documents are considered different:

<date xsi:type="xs:date">
    2003-11-24
  </date>

<date xsi:type="xs:date">2003-11-24</date>

when, from the validation point of view, they are the same.

FYI, it exists an open source tool for comparing XML files: http://xmlunit.sourceforge.net/

I haven't tried it.

An alternative to using another tool is the approach adopted in commit http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/incubator/tuscany/java/sdo/impl/src/test/java/org/apache/tuscany/sdo/test/DupElementTestCase.java?view=markup&pathrev=586476
