WYSIWYG XML editing in the new OpenOffice beta
Has anyone tried the just released OpenOffice 1.1 beta? I'm starting to
play with the new XMLFilter architecture which seems pretty cool: an
XSLT-based filter that should allow to WYSIWYG edit any XML (there is a
Docbook implementation shipped with the distro, but if you want to try
it out be sure to check
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=12712 first, since
there is a bug in the distro itself).
From my first tests I'm not really impressed since roundtripping seems
not really accurate, but it sure looks interesting from an architectural
POV, since it doesn't seem difficult at all to add new filters. Thoughts?
Ciao,

It's still working for me. Go to
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=12712 and download from
there
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/showattachment.cgi?attach_id=5286&file=Type
Detection.xcu.
Copy it over $OOROOT/share/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office and enjoy
your working Docbook setup...

It's included in the beta itself, I didn't have to install a thing, just
the patch from their bugzilla.
