Andy, I could supply a patch for this JIRA (1177) that is separate from the patch for JIRA 1176.

I agree that the CTS should not be expecting DoucmentRoot to be returned. However, I'm not sure that the opposite is also true - i.e., that the CTS should ensure that "DocumentRoot" is not returned.

The SDO spec is intentially vague about where global properties live. In Tuscany, we use "DocumentRoot" as the container Type for all the global properties in a given namespace. My first thought is that the CTS should tolerate extra implementation-dependent types (like DocumentRoot) to be returned. Do you see any problems with that?

    Attachment: 1177.patch

Patch removes the test for DocumentRoot and is intended to be applied from Tuscany\java directory. The Tuscany implementation also requires that the patch for JIRA 1176 be applied before it successfully passes the DynamicTypesFromSchemaTestCase.

Andy Grove commented on TUSCANY-1177:
-------------------------------------

I agree that vendors should be free to return implementation-specific types and that the CTS should only be checking that define() returns all types that are required by the specification.

Currently the tests are only checking the length of the returned list of types and are not checking the contents of the list so we'll need to tidy that up as part of this change. I'm happy to supply a patch if there are no objections to these changes.
