Thread object in TransformerImpl class

(sorry for two postings)
Hello,
    I have a need to access the thread object created in
TransformerImpl, specifically to call (Thread) t.join() to block until
transform() method is done.

I have patched the code directly, but would really like some suggestions
as to other methods to wait until this is done, or why this isnt a issue
for others..
