Resolution: Not A Bug
Calling the following in a command line:
{noformat}
javadoc -J-version
{noformat}
display only information about the version of the javadoc. See [1] for more information.
Like your error said, try to add <source>1.4</source> in your Maven Javadoc Plugin configuration.
