mod_auth_ldap and directory server usage data - any available?
The documentation for mod_auth_ldap states that it supports both the OpenLDAP
and iPlanet directory servers. I'm trying to get a feel for which of these
two directory servers has the most active support community with regards to
apache authenticating users via mod_auth_ldap. I'm not looking for a feature
comparison between the two (but I would be happy to read one if you have one
handy), just some kind of measure of install base for the development,
testing, and production use of mod_auth_ldap. If you know of a web site that
posts these kinds of statistics, or similar resources, I would love to hear
about it.
Searching the apache-httpd-user mailing list archives for ldap turned up many
hits, especially with regards to mod_ldap (not mod_auth_ldap) being made a
sub-project of apache2. However, in most of the posts I read, even the ones
regarding ./configure problems, the directory server in question was not
specified.
If there is no such survey data, is there a way to determine how many cvs
commits for mod_auth_ldap were specific to a particular directory server?
Also, do the developers of mod_auth_ldap use a specific directory server for
the majority of development or is it split evenly among the supported
servers?
Thanks in advance for any resources you can send me.
Please let me know if there is a more appropriate mailing list for this
question (apache-info-for-managers?).
