   @tillrohrmann @pnowojski I have refactored the end-to-end testing related to the Kafka connector. The only question now is whether we still need to provide an example of the use of the Kafka connector in `flink-examples-streaming` (as before). If this is still necessary, then I suggest that we only provide examples of the modern Kafka connector.
