Summary: Nio Connector write timeout
Product: Tomcat 6
Version: unspecified
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: Catalina
AssignedTo: tomcat-dev@jakarta.apache.org
ReportedBy: dcanofr@gmail.com
Hello.
Today I have taken a look to the Nio Connector because the 16000 connections
news and I was very sad when I discovered that it hasn't implemented a write
timeout, like in the apr connector. In the real world, with very slow
connections, connections that don't respond to write operations, APR connector
beats Nio Connector by far.
I think, to add this feature could be very easy.
This feature is very useful so if you don't work in comet mode, then the thread
that execute the request could be free in read and write issues. The write
problem is more common than you think in real world. I had to change to APR
connector because this.
Thanks in advance.

Certainly does have a write timeout, it uses the soTimeout value for this, just
like you would have on a blocking connection since reading and writing from the
streams is blocking
