[jira] Created: (JAMES-890) Blogging Protocols

Blogging Protocols
------------------

                 Key: JAMES-890
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JAMES-890
             Project: JAMES Server
          Issue Type: Wish
    Affects Versions: Trunk
            Reporter: Robert Burrell Donkin

James supports a number of older messaging protocols (SMTP, NNTP, IMAP, POP3). It lacks support for newer messaging protocols for example Atom.

I've opened this issue to help gather use cases

Use Case - Scriptable Template

1. Atom message is created from a scriptable template:
 A. Meta-data can be scripted from mail variables
 B. Content can be processed by the script
B. Atom syndication protocol is used to post message to a blog

Could content generation be included in Mime4J?

Scriptable Templates For Content Generation:

These use cases break down into:

1. Content generation (ideally scriptable)
2. Content post

the second is protocol specific but quite possibly, the first may be reusable.
