could oozie-2.3.1 work with pig-0.9.1?

 Hello,
I found pig-0.8.1 in oozie.war, my questions are:
--pig-0.8.1 is directory invoked by oozie-2.3.1?
--What pig is used for in oozie?
--Could we use pig-0.9.1 for oozie-2.3.1?
