[jira] [Created] (QPID-8564) Unable to Build Qpid C++ Broker on CentOS 8 or RedHat 8

Tom Peterson created QPID-8564:
----------------------------------

             Summary: Unable to Build Qpid C++ Broker on CentOS 8 or RedHat 8
                 Key: QPID-8564
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/QPID-8564
             Project: Qpid
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: C++ Broker, C++ Build
    Affects Versions: qpid-cpp-1.40.0
         Environment: CentOs 8.3 with the OS default development tools
            Reporter: Tom Peterson

Xqilla, and sasl wrappers are no longer in the OS repo's on version 8 and above.   Specifically, I am trying to build against version 8.3.

I think I have the C++ broker code building OK after suppressing warnings as errors.

But xerces and xqilla are really a pita.    I was able to build the latest xqilla from source as long as I also built xerces from source.   However, the latest versions of those projects seem to be incompatible with the Qpid C++ code.   I started trying to build older versions of xerces and xqilla that match the distributions from CentOs 7.x.   But that seems to open another can of compatibility issue with auotoconf and automake...

Right now I am just curious if anyone else has done this and if so can they share how they did it?

If anyone is attempting to do this and would like to collaborate I would be happy to do so.

Thanks,

tom
