[jira] Created: (FELIX-1823) Drop support for Framework API 1.3 (R4.0)

Drop support for Framework API 1.3 (R4.0)
-----------------------------------------

                 Key: FELIX-1823
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FELIX-1823
             Project: Felix
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: Declarative Services (SCR)
    Affects Versions: scr-1.0.8
            Reporter: Felix Meschberger
            Assignee: Felix Meschberger
             Fix For: scr-1.2.0

By dropping support for Framework API 1.3 (R4.0) we can make easy use of the following Framework API 1.4 (R4.1) features:

   * Bundle.getBundleContext() used to get the bundle context of bundles providing components
   * ServiceReference extends Comparable supporting the service ranking service property to order references

This simplifies the code a bit.

[jira] Resolved: (FELIX-1823) Drop support for Framework API 1.3 (R4.0)

Posted by "Felix Meschberger (JIRA)" <ji...@apache.org>.

Felix Meschberger resolved FELIX-1823.
--------------------------------------

    Resolution: Fixed

Implemented in Rev. 830947.

The Activator now directly calls Bundle.getBundleContext and the code to reflexively find the bundle context from the Bundle is removed.

The DependencyManager.getFrameworkService() method now uses the compareTo method to find the service with the highest service ranking.
