As Apache Giraph is currently a simple map only MapReduce job (+ ZooKeeper), there is little to do from the Whirr side (Hadoop and ZooKeeper are already supported). You just need an Hadoop cluster and launch your Giraph/MapReduce job.
However if/when Giraph is ported over YARN (see GIRAPH-13) this would make more sense and help users to get up to speed quickly.
