== 10.3 Post-mortem ==

This web page is a handy place to collect our impressions of the 10.3 release process. Hopefully, after gathering people's feedback, we can come up with a plan to make the next release easier to produce.

||Topic || Observer || Details ||
||Release Notes|| Rick || We need a standard way of generating the input files consumed by the release notes generator. The queries which generate these inputs should be standardized so that the release notes generator can create the inputs itself once it knows the release id. ||
||Release Notes|| Rick || We need to add a check box whose meaning is "exclude this JIRA from the release notes". This will make the previous task easier.||
||Release Notes|| Rick || The release notes lint tool should object when it sees text which will confuse the Apache cgi scripts. Right now, the release notes checked into the branch can't be put onto the Apache website when we publish the release. This is because the website's cgi scripts hiccup when they see certain characters. ||
|| Buddy Testing || Rick || Buddy testing should start several weeks before the first release candidate is generated. ||
|| Buddy Testing || Rick || If a feature finishes up early, it would be good to vet a snapshot so that the feature can be buddy-tested early. ||
