Add french translation to the default publication provided in lenya 2.0.2

Hello devs and users,

I would like to know if the responsables of lenya project are interessted in
a translation in french of the default publication website provided with
lenya 2.0.2 ? I speak english and german, and I'm born in France that's why
I think I could produce a good translation of the default publication.

Thank You,
Thomas.

Thanks! I added the script to the firedocs module and the <script>
element to the defaultstyle module. It points to the wiki page for the
moment.

Yes, this is an issue with the firedocs.org site. The fix is to add
the following script to your site:

var installFiredocs = function () {

   var anchors = document.getElementsByTagName("a");

   for (var i=0; i < anchors.length; i++) {
     var anchor = anchors.item(i);

     if (anchor.hasAttribute("href") &&
anchor.getAttribute("href").indexOf("firedocs://") == 0 && !
window.firedocsInfo) {
       anchor.setAttribute("href", "http://www.unicms.uzh.ch/about/firedocs.html
"); // point to install location
       anchor.setAttribute("target", "_blank");
       anchor.textContent = "Download Firedocs";
     }
   }

};

window.addEventListener("load", installFiredocs, false);

In case Firedocs isn't installed, this will rewrite all firedocs://
links to some location of choice. If installed, Firedocs will add the
appropriate event handlers to those links and launch an editing session.

You need the Lenya add-on to make it work with Lenya.

Thanks Vik ! It's work for me now.

I had some text about this problem in the firedoc's wiki page.

There is someone in touch with the firedocs dev community ? It could be
cool to show it this bug (If they don't know it for sure).

Have a good Day

I faced the same problem when I tried this and others pointed me to my
Java version as the issue.

I was using OpenJDK - but I think there is also a problem with later
versions of Java 6. This is the advice I got from the list:

This is a result of my little Sherlock Holmes time :

* a tutorial explain how it's work :
**
https://developer.mozilla.org/En/Installing_Extensions_and_Themes_From_Web_Pages

* an example pick-up from the mozilla official site :
<a href="/fr/firefox/downloads/latest/60/addon-60-latest.xpi"
id="installTrigger28678" title="Ajouter Web Developer à Firefox"
addonName="Web Developer"
addonIcon="/en-US/firefox/images/addon_icon/60/1211254666"
addonHash="sha256:4d62c52037271b2e44c818a2d824ea920cff8ef9477bb78a3c1828b7a5ecf1f9"
onclick="return
install(event,document.getElementById('installTrigger28678').getAttribute('addonName'),
document.getElementById('installTrigger28678').getAttribute('addonIcon'),
document.getElementById('installTrigger28678').getAttribute('addonHash'));"><span><span><span><strong>Télécharger
</strong></span></span></span></a>            </p>
        	<script type="text/javascript">
        installVersusDownloadCheck("installTrigger28678", "Ajouter à
Firefox ", "Télécharger ");
	</script>

* maybe, just an add off the install() function in the nice Thomas script
can be sufficient...

 I'm sorry, I really don't have time now to test a write of a patch, but
this is my first piece and If nobody implement this I sure do that one
day...

Thanks for this module
See you soon

Thanks Andreas and Thomas for your quick and effective replies !

Just to do my "real user-end" :) :

- Now we have a cool script (I don't try it now) and a lenya specific .xpi
:
-- It will be really cool to do that :
--- If the user don't have firedocs set up, the script detect it, init the
installation on firefox, and the user have just to accept the module
install (like with "standard" firefox's modules on the official site).

==> Do you think it's possible ?

==> The less a end-user do, a better he feel ! :)

-------
Arrrg : Houston, I have a problem :

- I uninstall my previous unsuited version of firedocs and install the "on
wiki" lenya .xpi.
- I go to the pub and open a document
- I don't see the previous error, but now, the firedocs "completion bar"
stop on the "Schema loaded" item (~50%)... I'm waiting from 5 minutes
now... I think there is a problem.

Testing at work...

I read the tutorial (after test :) ), but I think that it will be very
important to have a download of the good .xpi (firedocs-lenya-full.xpi)
directly from the pub (download suggested with the detection script ?).

IMO, "simple user" don't do a lenya build for use this editor...

Hi Thomas,

Thomas Comiotto schrieb:

I thought Firedocs itself (not the Lenya add-on) was licensed under the
GPL, but apparently you chose the ASL, which is very good news :)

So I guess it's no problem to provide the full package for download.

For the record: If Firedocs used the GPL, the full package would be a
derivative work, and as such would have to be distributed under the GPL
as well, wouldn't it? I think that would contradict the ASF distribution
policies (assuming that a download is subject to those policies, which
I'm not sure of).

us. Unless Thomas comes up with an answer first, I'll do some investigation.

To build the Firedocs package, you'd have to follow this how-to:
http://wiki.apache.org/lenya/HowToInstallFiredocs

I don't think we can provide the package for download (licensing), but I
can send you the package if you don't want to build it yourself.

Feedback about the defaultfiredocs pub (was : Re: Add french translation to the default publication provided in lenya 2.0.2)

Posted by Florent André <fl...@4sengines.com>.
Hi list,

A feedback on my try to use firedocs :

1 - (I test like a basic user : don't install firedocs before - for testing
purpose) :
When firedocs is not install on firefox, and when the user clic on "edit
--> with firedocs", a pop-up is fired. This pop-up just say something like
that : "the firedocs protocol is unknow". This is not really understandable
for user...
-- ?? this is possible to test if the user have the firedocs installed on
is firefox (like google do with firebug) ?? If yes, it will be cool to have
a little word about the install for user...

2 - (more important), after install firedocs from the official site, I clic
on the "tutoriel" page (a translation of the tutorial page). When I would
like to edit it with firedocs :
-- Firedocs begin to load and few time after I have au pop-up like that :
--- title : problem opening document
--- content : unsupported content type
--- button : quit editor

My config :
- firefox 3.0.6
- firedocs : http://firedocs.org/download_firedocs - 1.2. I don't have the
modules/firedocs/dist/firedocs-lenya-full.xpi -- because I'm a really
simple user ! :)
- java : 1.6.0_11

Feel free to add any translations you like. I'd recommend using Firedocs

It's the file were your userid an password is stored.
I.e. The user xyz has an xyz.iml file in the build area of a publication
inside the folder config/access-control/passwd

Good idea ! The defaultfiredocs publication woud be great from MPOV.
(Maybe Andre didn't know that it's possible to get an account for
publications without beeing a committer.)

I'm pretty sure it's the English version. It contains some paragraphs
that are missing in the German version.

We must be doing something wrong. Why does it seem more straightforward
to move the content to the Wiki, edit it there, and move it back to
Lenya? An outsider wouldn't notice that we're developing a content
management system :)

I'd suggest we use our documentation instance. If this is OK for
everyone I'll install the default publication there. Or even better the
defaultfiredocs publication (it could use some more testing).

Hi Richard, Thomas, and all Lenya's friends

- What is the "reference" (the more updated) language for default content ?
English or german ?

- What do you think about create a "translation area" on the wiki ? When
translation is ok on wiki, a lenya dev put it in the svn.

Yes, it is a good idea. Before you do the work, are there any changes we
want to make to that content?

Also, I'm guessing the editing UI could use some updates as well.
