Falsh using Cocoon

Hi,
I have not used cocoon before and I want to expolore the possibility of
using Cocoon as a Content management System. But CMS has a reuqirment of
generating Flash files. Is it possible to generate Flash files using cocoon.
ANy help on this is greatly appreciated.

With a little bit more thinking: It was in 2.1 before the refactoring of
the build process. I wrote a bug with the patch for adding the files
(sitemap, samples file):
http://nagoya.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=19619.

But as I wrote there it does not work, because of problems with the
transformation. Both Xalan and XSLTC don't work.

We haven't even any SWF stuff in Cocoon 2.0.x :-)

Hello Torsten,

are you sure there was a Flash sample? I can't remember having seen
anyone. And I looked into Cocoon 2.0.4 and current 2.0 CVS, but I didn't
found it. So I guess we never had one?

Thanks for this list, it will be useful!
I have resurrected the FOP and RTF hellloworld samples and updated the
list accordingly.

That is a great idea Tony. Perhaps this should be "as well as"
the "Hello World" stuff. Hello World should be just that.
A "brochure" set of samples would be a bit more complex.

Yes we did lose samples in the recent restructuring. I have
a partially finished work which attempted to list all samples
that were in the cvs prior to build restructuring, then look
at current cvs to see what is missing and while we are at it,
list what does not work. That is now at Wiki (though incomplete).

I agree... the fac tthat we were generating the majority of those samples
from the same "Hello World" document and transformign them into all of the
different formats was one of the things that made Cocoon so cool back when
I was first looking at it.

I think we should try to aim for the same type of samples, but show
something a little more flashy and interesting. Perhaps, instead of
having a page with just "Hello World", we could have some sort of
Cocoon-related promotional text... so with the PDF we could whip out a
brochure or something to hand out to people. Just my $0.02 though.

Yes, I didn't even look for old samples as I mainly wanted to put the
PDF samples infrastructure back in for my caching experiments.

IMHO, for blocks which integrate external projects like FOP into
Cocoon, samples should concentrate on the integration between the
external project and Cocoon.

Project-specific samples (complex XSL-FO examples in this case) belong
to the project's web site, we shouldn't copy them here but rather refer
to them and concentrate on our "core business" of integration.

ups... yes there was a simple example... it was in the "hello world"
section. have you had a look into the cocoon historical repro?

How complex is the flash supposed to be?

Unfortunately, there are no SWF samples to show since we moved everything
to blocks. Did we lose a lot of the old samples when this happened? I
noticed Bertrand whipped up a quick PDF sample that uses the fo2pdf
serializer on a basic XSLFO document... perhaps we need a push to get a
bunch of samples back in the webapp.

Yes, take a look into the swf block.

Stephan.
