   Reviving dead issues usually is not a good idea, but I can provide the details, because I'm running into the same issue. 
   
   The reason is that the karaf-maven-plugin with the extensions allows to set a `feature` packaging which only outputs an XML file with `features` classifier. This is the only artifact produced. An example can be found [here](https://github.com/J-N-K/addons/blob/main/features/smarthomej-addons/pom.xml) or (similar)  [here](https://github.com/openhab/openhab-addons/blob/main/features/openhab-addons/pom.xml).
