Where do I get an rpm?

Where do I get an rpm of subversion for a generic version of linux?

The download page doesn't have one. There is only the CollabNet
"enterprise" version. All other releases say, rather unhelpfully, to use
the built-installer for your release.

What's a 'generic' version and why use it when many distributions have
fairly current packages of many applications including subversion
packaged for easy install and updates with their own package managers?

I don't think there is such a thing. If you want a truly generic
version, get the source tarball.

Given that many Linux systems don't "do" RPM natively (Debian and
Slackware come to mind), an RPM isn't really generic.

Wouldn't an binary rpm by definition be for a specific distro/architecture? Are you looking for a source rpm?
