Not accepting username/password in Global.properties in tomcat 4.0.3

I have tomcat 4.0.3 with jdk1.4. with SQL Server 2000, when i try to connect to 
my web application it doesnt accept the username/password specified in WEB-
INF\Global.properties file.
I have double checked the password in the database and even changed it again to 
the one mentioned in Global.properties file, but it still odesnt work. 
One day it works and the next day it stops accepting the username/password.

What might be wrong? Can anyone help me? I am a beginner.
