Xerces install on the MAC OS X

Can anyone help me on installing the xerces 2.0.1 bin on MAC OS X? 
My limited MAC knowledge has just hit a solid wall on this. 

go easy, I'll admit I'm clueless on MAC.

... Do you mean the mechanics of gunzipping it and untaring it?
