[jira] Created: (INFRA-2533) Remove 'Reply-To' from hbase-issues emissions

Remove 'Reply-To' from hbase-issues emissions
---------------------------------------------

                 Key: INFRA-2533
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-2533
             Project: Infrastructure
          Issue Type: Task
      Security Level: public (Regular issues)
          Components: Mailing Lists
            Reporter: stack

Over in hbase, we have a mailing list named hbase-issues@hadoop.apache.org. Changes to JIRA issues are sent out on this mailing list. We want to be able to comment on issues by replying to mail from hbase-issues. Currently, the JIRA missives have a 'Reply-To' of hbase-issues. We are of the opinion that if the 'Reply-To' was removed, replies would go to jira@apache.org. Mail to list would then end up as comments in hbase issues -- so we think. Perhaps you know better?

I asked Owen O'Malley, the admin for hadoop, the parent project if he knew how to do this but he didn't.

Thanks.

Sending mail to jira@apache.org works; i.e. if you reply to an emission made by JIRA and change the To address to jira@apache.org, the response goes into the pertinent issue . We were just trying to figure how to have it so replies to mail sent out by jiras goes back into jira as comments rather than to the hbase-dev list WITHOUT having to manually change the To addres. Thanks Brett.

Brett Porter commented on INFRA-2533:
-------------------------------------

have you tried sending a reply to jira@apache.org on an issue and see that it does what you want? I'm not sure if that feature is enabled on the ASF JIRA or not.

Another alternative is to set the reply-to to dev@ so that discussion continues in the right forum.
