[Issue 124685] New: Highlighting color only highlight one occurrence
of found text
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=124685
Issue ID: 124685
Issue Type: DEFECT
Summary: Highlighting color only highlight one occurrence of
found text
Product: Writer
Version: 4.0.1
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: formatting
Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org
Reporter: hadouma@gmail.com
I want to change the highlighting color permanently and am not able to do so.
Steps I followed:
- search for a text in a Writer document
- found text is "highlighted" in light blue (default color?), which is hardly
visible
- selected new highlighting color using the button in the toolbar and selected
yellow
- first occurrence of found text on current page is highlighted in newly
selected color, all other occurrences are still light-blue.

If you want to change the formatting for _all_ searched text [Search All] and
changing background colour works without any problems.
The colour of highlighting depends on the theme of your operating system.

Brilliant, that is exactly what I was looking for, but I did expect to find
this setting within OO, not on OSX level. Thanks very much for your help

What you do is repeating the following:
1) search a text phrase
2) change the background colour of the found characters
But what you want is to change the highlighting colour.
You have to change the colour in the options of the system:
Preferences → Appearance
Look at the attachment (only german) or

I use the search box in the top of the screen. Here I enter the text to find
and hit Return. This will take me to the first page containing the found text.
This text is highlighted blue. I the change the highlight color to yellow. That
will only change the color of that particular text.
You say, using "search all" and then changing the HL-color will change all
occurrences of the found text. That may be true, but "search all" will not
position the pages for me, as will be done by when I use the search box.
Instead I will have to scan all pages to find the highlighted text.
So my preferred method is the search box. I don't see any reason the behavior
of HL-color change should be any different in this case: I just change the
color to be used for highlighting. This might as well be a preference setting,
btw.
As far as I am concerned, this issue is NOT resolved

Each occurrence of the found text requires it's own "press the HL button" to
change the color
