[jira] [Commented] (MAHOUT-1699) Trim down Mahout packaging for
next release
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MAHOUT-1699?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=14533326#comment-14533326 ]
Andrew Palumbo commented on MAHOUT-1699:
----------------------------------------
MAHOUT-1704 (commited to master) gets the release .tar.gz back down just below 200MB. MAHOUT-1706 should be able to get it down to ~154 MB. But still needs some testing. The next step should be to go through and remove any redundant dependencies in MAHOUT-1705. As well we need to update all of the assembley.xml to exclude hadoop necessary h2 artifacts (currently they only look to exclude o.a.hadoop:hadoop-core).

> Mahout 0.10.0 package size is 210MB, this needs to be trimmed down to a more manageable size.
> This also makes it hard to package Mahout into the BigTop distro and not to mention seeking an infra waiver at the time of release for the > 200MB size.
