I suggest that this is resolved for 1.2.
It might be a simple configuration problem or not, but obviously it does not
seem to work out of the box as it should for the default publication.

yes, this is indeed a configuration problem:
<map:parameter name="pub0-prefix" value=""/>
within src/webapp/lenya/lucene.xmap
