> Key: DBCP-592
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DBCP-592
> Project: Commons DBCP
> Issue Type: Improvement
> Affects Versions: 2.11.0
> Reporter: Mohammed Bekraoui
> Priority: Major

> JDBC 4.3 introduced two new methods, [beginRequest|https://docs.oracle.com/javase/9/docs/api/java/sql/Connection.html#beginRequest] and [endRequest|https://docs.oracle.com/javase/9/docs/api/java/sql/Connection.html#endRequest--], which connection pools can use to mark request boundaries.
> According to JavaDoc, these methods signal to the driver that a connection is active, the driver's response is specific to the vendor and it may not do anything.
> Goal is to make DBCP invoke beginRequest when a connection is borrowed and endRequest when the connection is returned to the pool.
