This is probably off topic. But what do you suggest to your clients when
they need to create a product that runs on more than one machine? Do you
distribute the Java code somehow?

EJB does seem to have had poor PR in that it was initially mainly billed
as an automated object->relational java dbms wrapper. Now the distributed
part of it receives the most focus.

Cool. I'm glad. I was very near considering writing an Avalon
Framework Specification...but my todo list is
very long at the moment and it wasn't near the top.

That part should be easier in the near future.
Specifications, etc. will be forthcoming.

Well if someone would give the eob guys a good kick, I think that shows
a lot of promise.
http://eob.sourceforge.net/. The only bad thing is its tied too closely
to avalon and hence has no
specification. (Meaning it assumes you understand Avalon and Phoenix)

Yes... Think of how wonderful it would be if the Jakarta.apache.org site
were rewritten in JSPs and all the data
was stored in a database accessed via EJBs. We could truely know
efficiency and wonder then. (I have SEEN this for
a similar site that shall remain nameless to protect the guilty!)

Of course....using struts totally unsucks JSP right? ;-)

But, if you listen to the Sun propaganda, then all of your applications
could use EJB's.

No argument there.I'm hunting for views on that something good :) Not that
I've had to do one of those 5% of applications or expect to in the near
future.

Well and the fact that its an architectural blunder doesn't help either.
 Plus the overselling. EJBs are
being used EVERYWHERE appropriate or not. Roughly 5% of all
applications using EJBs
actually need them. And those 5% would be better off with something
good instead.
