I deployed mailbox site

Hi,

Today I deployed the site for Apache James Mailbox. There are some
missing things there that I plan to take care of and improve with time
so that the place is not that empty.
Please take a look and submit contributions it your area or be free to
critique.

Thanks,

Hi,

I see Server and Hupa different from the rest. For these 2 projects,
there's a demand for a separate user manual and a need for a appealing
marketing web site. Currently, we are mixing 3 things in those sites
(general presentation + user manual + information for developers).

The other projects are for developers-only and can perfectly contain the
heavy reports.

Thx,

Eric

Excluding the Server product, users of our other products (including
mailbox) are java developers.

I think we should use maven without altering too much its results, as
developers are used to maven sites and to find stuff in the "default
structure".

That said I'm not developing so I'm not in the position to say how to
do things, this is just an opinion.

Web site looks ok (reports are not there anymore)

Reports are useful for developers, but web site audience is users +
developers.

To be further discusses (no strong idea here, although I think it's
perfectly doable to ask developers to generate their reports and not
publish them).

Yep, this is part of the discussion about the structure or our web
sites. Prolly one site does not fit them all.

I am in favor of splitting:
- the user site (being more a marketing site to drive to a one-click
download).
- the manual site (how to install, configure, monitor)
- the developer site (how to develop, the maven reports,...).

This already makes 3 dimensions, that we have to multiply by the number
of different projects, at least the nature of project we have (server is
a beast quite different from mime4j and hupa beasts for example).

Heads up :)

This should work, if we may have a bug. IIRC mvn site-deploy should
generate and deploy the documentations site to somewhere/ and mvn
site-deploy -Psite-reports should deploy the reports site to
somewhere/technical-reports/ (when using james-project -pom-1.8 as
parent). If it doesn't we do have a special "feature" which needs to be
fixes.

Yes, they look good, but I think I messed up with the deployment.

I guess the reports got uploaded when I did:

mvn site:site -P site-reports

mvn site-deploy doesn't seem to properly deploy multi-project site.

I redeployed with mvn site:site and mvn site:deploy. I hope things
will be well.

As a side note, I think the information displayed by the reports is
useful for developers and should be available on the site.

I will like to somehow include those reports on the site, somewhere in
the development section. What do you think?

It will take some time until the web servers get updated.

Bye,

Hi Ioan,

The current deployment does not show anymore the content (only reports
are show, but not the pages defined in
http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/james/mailbox/trunk/src/site/xdoc/).

Does you locally generated site look good?

Thx,

Eric
