[users@httpd] Syntax error on line 340
Hello All --
Hopefully this is an easy question for the 'experienced' out there...
I compiled apache from source.. when trying to start apache using
'apachectl start' I receive the following error:
[root@www apache_1.3.27]# apachectl start
Syntax error on line 340 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:
Invalid command 'Order', perhaps mis-spelled or defined by a module not
included in the server configuration
/usr/sbin/apachectl start: httpd could not be started
Now.. if I do a 'vi +340 /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf' , I see the following
#
# Controls who can get stuff from this server.
#
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
</Directory>
Is there a problem with that? Looks pretty standard to me!
This is located in ### Section 2: 'Main' server configuration
Any ideas are appreciated! I hope this isn't a total newbie question :-)

You're guessing right. If that was the case, the error message wouldn't be
what he got.
To the OP:
Check that you have mod_access loaded. Asuming Apache 2.0, you must either
have it compiled in (do httpd -t (*nix) or apache -t (Windows)), or have an
(uncommented) directive like this in your httpd.conf:
LoadModule access_module modules/mod_access.so

This is somewhat of a shot in the dark, but I've made the mistake of putting
in 'Order allow, deny' (note the space). I don't see one in your posting
though, so I'm guessing not.
